Hey folks! It's that time again! Today's my day over at the Scribblerati blog and I am over there blabbing on about some of my favorite authors and their books! Go on over and have a read! You'll love it. If you can, when you're over there, you should follow us... and me, here at my blog-if you aren't already. Also, little known fact: Almost all of us are on Twitter, so be sure to follow us there too. You won't be sorry, we're more fun than a barrel of monkeys, pinkie swear.

Do you like the new layout? I think I do. Maybe it's not all that different... What do you think? Is it easy to read? Let me know.
Anyway, first off: It's embarrassing to admit it, but I have not been on the ball too much lately, at least not as far as the Query Machine is concerned. The silver lining of the whole situation is that the short story I am currently working on is the reason for the lapse, but still... Right now, I've only got three queries out there... THREE! So, I need to send out two more, because five is my magic number, man. FIVE! Sure it's an arbitrary number, but it's a number all the same, MY number! Respect the number.
So that's on the list for tonight.
Also on the list: House stuff, of course. The massive tide of post-wedding clean up stuff is staggering and Little Ms. Super-cute Wife and I have been doing our level best to steadfastly ignore it, but the unfortunate reality of the situation is that sooner or later... we're gonna have to unpack some shit. So, that might start tonight. Might. Also, I might start on my Thank You cards... or I might not... I'll at least intend to. No, more likely, my main focus later this evening will be my short story.
It's kind of hard to summarize, I'm not sure what the pitch would be... uh... it's kind of like... It's about a night in the life of a low level street thug who gets the crap beat out of him by a masked Vigilante... basically.
And it's almost done. I've got two sections left and I know what happens in them, so I'll pound that out in the next couple of days, then go over it again and again and hopefully it will be ready to send out to the Scribblerati by Sunday, which would get it out of my hair and my mind on a new short. Not to mention, it would give the other Scribblerati Agents plenty of time to read it for our next meeting on the 12th of July. You want to know what else? My secret, secret plan? The one so far only shared between you and me, my dear and constant readers, one that I've barely dared to hope I'd even get a shot at, much less plan on? Well, my secret, secret plan is: If I can get this one done, I might (MIGHT) be able to pump out a second short story and get it ready in time for the next meeting... MAYBE... fingers crossed... Shhhhh...
There is a problem though. The big obstacle in my way is going be two things:
1. Red Dead Redemption. I just got it and, well... it's like crack. Also, I'm playing it on the new TV and, let me tell you, HD gaming? It's a lot like what I imagine Gaming is like in Heaven. So, that could be a little distracting...
2. Little Ms. Super-cute Wife is going out tonight, so I will be at home, all alone, and COMPLETELY unsupervised...
Also, Here's a couple of good blogs by interesting and funny people I know. There's the brand new and kind of awesome Script Doctor and the freshly back from limbo, always a classic, The Daily Scott Brown. There's also the Michelopedia, which may or may not be active these days, as the 'Pedia is Pregnant... with a baby!

So, I am pleased to report that the wedding went off without a hitch… or, well, actually WITH a hitch, I guess I should say, but at least it was the good kind… Anyway, it was great. Many, many thanks to all y’all who showed up and partook of the festivities and the now legendary Cup-cake Tree. It was great to see everyone and I hope a good time was had by all. I know I had one; personally, I drank more in those three days than I may have in the last three years… So, with that in mind, if you’re here looking for a wedding recap, you are out of luck and should head on over to the Scribblerati Blog to check out the latest post there. It’s a cooperative effort all about the good friends and good times the people shared this past weekend with me and Little Ms. Super-cute once Fiancé and now Wife. It’s a four parter, with each part individually authored by my awesome and illustrious fellow Scribblerati Agents. It’s a real good time, so make sure to go and take a look.
Alright then, let’s get into it, shall we?
Ok, so now that the wedding is all done and the many awesome and thoughtful gifts and well-wishes (Thanks again) have been opened and life is slowly but surely righting itself back once again upon its usual track, it’s time for me to get back to work. It’s time to make the doughnuts, baby, time to get my nose back to the grindstone. Hi motherfuckin’ Ho, you know?
That’s right, kids, it’s been awhile, but it looks like it is that time again….
Gunslingers of the Apocalypse:
The machine is up and running once again. The book is done (ish) and there are currently five (5) queries out there, doing what they do. This means, of course, that there is not too much we can do on our end, not at this point, nothing except wait… and agonize…
Bastard out of Minnesota:
There will be some revisits here, some re-familiarizations and what not, but for the most part this WIP (That’s: Work in Progress) is in a holding pattern, circling, circling, circling, waiting for clearance to come on in for a landing. This is for two (2) reasons: 1. It's not the best idea to spend ALL of my time on the second book in a proposed series when the first book has yet to even garner representation. And 2. I need to work my writing muscles out a bit, you know… limber them up some and get them back up to speed. It’s been awhile since I’ve really sat down and spent some dedicated pen-to-paper work work work time, so I’m planning on easing on back into it.
And how do I plan to do this?
Not really my thing, but I’m going to give it a shot and see what I can put out. There’s plenty of paying markets out there (to greater or lesser degrees), sites like Asminov’s or Strange Horizons. I could also try Brain Harvest again, if I ended up doing a short-short. Also, I should mention that fellow Scribblerati Agent Claudia passed an e-mail amongst us about a local anthology, so I might try out something for that one too. In a nutshell: There are many options.
Point being: I need the short term focus to help me get back into the saddle, not to mention the practice, and there are some actual do-able options out there that just might, if I’m lucky, lead to a pay day. That’s an all around good deal, if you ask me. To that end, I’ve been mentally preparing these last few weeks, ramping up to the main event, if I may. I bought myself a Moleskine Notebook a little bit ago, (favored by Hemingway, Van Gogh, and Picasso… or so the website claims…). It’s just a little pocket one, but it has quickly become my new idea repository—not to be confused with my idea Suppository… gross—it’s very convenient and I’ve already loaded a couple of potentially good ideas into it. So, starting tonight actually, I’ll be working on those while playing the query waiting game.
So that’s it, all my new news in a quick and easily digestible package. I’ll keep you abreast of any new developments—pinkie swear. Until then, and as always my dear and faithful readers, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Okay... so anyway, this happened over at Aint it cool:
Now, I'm sure you'll recall my disappointment when the Thor costume was revealed. It didn't seem like a good sign of things to come, as that is a franchise that could go super bad just as easily as it could go super cool.
Well this here is a different story. This I like. This makes me a little less antsy about having Joe Johnston as the Director... I think this costume will come out looking and moving real good... but then, the Rocketeer outfit looked incrediblly awesome too and Lord knows that film crashed and burned like a lead balloon, and so did Johnston's recent clean up of the film the Wolfman, come to mention it. But then, is that his fault or the fault of material corrupted at the script level? He's not a bad director, the Wolfman at least looked good, but is he an inspired one? Time will tell, I guess. I mean, I certainly wouldn't have marked out Favreau as a talented and entertaining Director before Iron Man, but now...
But I digress...
Anyway, here we have a prime example of walking the line between comic book "real world" functionality and comic book faithfulness, a nod more to the Ultimate Captain America, then the regular version of the Captain, sure, but still... at first glance, man, this is from a much, much better place than the plasticene sculpted muscles of the Odinson or, even more so, the movie Batman's ridiculous Magic-shell outfit. I mean, for years that poor bastard could barely even turn his head, which can't be good for crimefighting (although, to be fair, it probably does wonders for his posture), and I'd really like to see Batman try... TRY!... to get up out of a comfy chair without having to first roll over the side to the floor... but again, I digress.
Plainly put, this looks like it's going to be a great costume, and I hear the WWII version (which is brilliant) is also going to stick pretty comic-faithful. Hearing that, and after seeing his modern day outfit (or whatever it is they're planning on using it for/calling it...), I am now dying to see them trot out the WWII version.

Hey! You read that right, kids: It's a little over a year later and it's just about that time... Ring the bells and spread the news, Little Ms. Super Cute Fiance and I will be getting married this weekend, so if you're passing through, just dying for some book updates, chomping at the bit for a scrap of news, if you will, well... you'll just have to wait, 'cause I got shit to do.
Yes, that's me in the glasses. Yes, I am Superman.
Fear not for the future of this blog, web-citizens! I will be back in the days afterwards armed with a renewed sense of purpose, a new batch of queries, and even more updates on the various and sundry literary adventures of myself and my fellow Scribblerati Agents.
So stay tuned, my myriad of oh so gentle and constant readers, and keep your eyes peeled for that halcyon day. I know, I know, the wait may seem interminable now, but rest assured, I will be back and no longer a hell-bound sinner in the eyes of the church, to boot... well, maybe that last part is an exaggeration, but either way... yeah, I'll be back in a few days.
See you then!
